Our Chosen Charity: MNDA

We have chosen Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association as our charity of the year due to a personal experience, which opened our eyes to the work that this charity undertake. It is our aim to raise money and awareness to help patients and their families suffering with this devastating illness. The money raised will go towards providing essential equipment, finding a cure and improved care for people living with this dreadful disease.

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is an illness that usually affects people over the age of forty. MND is quite a rare disease but is a rapidly progressive and fatal disease that can affect any adult at any time.

The cause is unknown and there is no known cure. MND affects about 5000 people in the UK. Life expectancy for most is 2 to 5 years but half die within 14 months of diagnosis. MND kills 5 people every day in the
UK!

When someone develops MND something goes wrong with the nerves that carry messages from the brain to the muscles. As MND develops, fewer of these messages get through to the muscles causing their movements to become weaker and weaker until, eventually, some muscles stop working, leaving patients unable to walk, talk or feed themselves but the intellect and senses remain unaffected

What will happen to the money we raise?

Arden & Amici will make a contribution to MNDA for each pack sold. Every penny contributed will go straight towards 1 of 3 key areas: 1. Improving standards of care. 2. Research into finding a cure for MND. 3. Providing riser chairs and computer equipment for people suffering with MND
